Ann Grose Memorial Scholarship

The Chuck Adams and Ann Grose Memorial Scholarship Award provides educational enrichment opportunities to Sahuaro High School students.

As part of the Award, a minimum of one, non-renewable, $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year, and the funds may be applied to any accredited college or university in the United States. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate student leadership participation/skills and are pursuing a 4-year degree.

 

Award Applicant Qualifications:

  • A graduating senior who has been a Sahuaro High School Student Council member at least one (1) year during their attendance at Sahuaro High School; and
  • A student with a minimum and current 3.25 GPA; and
  • A citizen or permanent resident of the United States; and
  • A student with plans to attend an accredited (4)-year college or university within the United States; and
  • A student with an endorsement of their Guidance Counselor attesting they are qualified for this award (part of the Scholarship Application document).

Preference will be given to:

  • A student who demonstrates a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities; and/or
  • A student who displays participation in extracurricular school activities; and/or
  • If no qualifying application is received, the Scholarship Award Committee reserves the right to open up qualifications for need-based applicants (financial etc.) as the Committee deems appropriate.

At least one of the recommendations must be from a faculty member who has taught the student in the classroom. Both recommendations must include the reference’s name, address, telephone number, and information regarding how long and in what capacity he or she has known the applicant and a narrative describing the writer’s perception of the ability of the student to succeed in their post-high school endeavor as well as insight regarding the candidate’s integrity.

Provide a 750 – 1000 word essay addressing the following: Describe how you got involved with Student council and why? What has student council meant to you and how has it helped you in your overall views of life and school? Describe how you have utilized your student leadership skills at Sahuaro High School? How has your student government/leadership participation benefitted you and other students? What has it taught you? What are your college plans and what are some of your future goals? Finally, discuss any challenges you have faced and overcame…and how this will help you succeed in college and beyond

This statement from your school guidance counselor should include an affirmation this application meets the criteria set forth by this scholarship program and that your counselor supports submission of this application to The Chuck Adams and Ann Grose Memorial Scholarship Award Committee.

I hereby understand that if chosen as a scholarship winner, according to The Chuck Adams and Ann Grose Memorial Scholarship Award policy, it is my responsibility to submit to The Chuck Adams and Ann Grose Memorial Scholarship Award Committee, no later than July 1, 2025, a certificate of enrollment for the fall semester, which includes the Student ID number and Financial Aid Office address. Incomplete applications or applications that do not meet eligibility criteria will not be considered for this scholarship.
