Richard Stagg graduated from Sahuaro High School in 1973 where he ranked 12th in his class. He was a three-year letterman in football, basketball and baseball. He was on the State Championship Team in Baseball in 1973.
He received his BA degree from the University of Arizona in 1977, graduating with high distinction. He was Phi Beta Kappa, four year’s Deans List, recipient of the J.F. McKale Academic/Athletic Scholarship and he lettered and was a member of the 1976 NCAA National Championship Baseball Team. Richard received his J.D. degree from UCLA School of Law in May in 1980, graduating with honors. He is a member of the UCLA Law Review.
He was with the firm of O’Connor, Cavanagh, Anderson, Westover, Killingsworth & Beshears P.A., in Phoenix, AZ from September 1980 to March 1997. He was a member of the Corporate Securities Department.
From April 1997 to the present he has been with Snell & Wilmer, L.L.P., Phoenix AZ. He is a partner in the Business & Finance Group. His practice is concentrated in business and finance law.
Membership in professional and charitable organizations include:
President and Chairman of Friends of COMPAS (Combined Metropolitan Phoenix Arts & Sciences); Member of the executive committee and board of directors COMPAS XIII and XIV; Valley Leadership Class XIII. He is a member if the Executive Committee of Arizona Venture Capital Conference/Chairperson of Entrepreneur Summit since March 2001.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of Enterprise Network since March 2003; Program Coordinator since 2004; a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Arizona East Valley Alumni Club since May 2003; and a member of ASU Technopolis Advisory Board.
Richard and his wife, Eileen, have two children: Elizabeth, 12, and James, 5.
