Kendrick Wilson distinguished himself early as a scholar, earning his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude, from the University of Arizona in 2005. A member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society, Kendrick went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 2008 before returning home to Tucson to begin his legal career.
From 2010 to 2015, Kendrick served in the Narcotics Unit of the Pima County Attorney’s Office, prosecuting drug-related offenses. He later joined the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, where his advocacy achieved a historic milestone—the first jury conviction of a non-tribal member in the tribal nation. This groundbreaking case was a turning point for prosecuting domestic violence in tribal courts and showcased Kendrick’s commitment to justice and victims’ rights.
Kendrick’s judicial career reflects the same dedication. He was appointed Justice of the Peace for Precinct 9, one of Pima County’s most diverse regions, encompassing the University of Arizona, the City of South Tucson, and portions of the Tohono O’odham Nation. His expertise with domestic violence cases proved invaluable when he became a Judge in the Consolidated Pima County Justice Court. There, he successfully restarted the Domestic Violence Court after COVID-19 shutdowns by securing grant funding to sustain its operations.
In 2019, Kendrick was formally appointed as a Justice of the Peace, where he oversaw the Domestic Violence Specialty Court and co-founded the first Animal Welfare Specialty Court in Southern Arizona. His vision and leadership created new pathways for addressing both human and animal welfare in the judicial system.
After stepping down from the bench, Kendrick continued his service by returning to the Prosecutor’s Office as a mentor and was soon named Supervisor of the Domestic Violence Division. His professional achievements are matched by his community service, as he volunteers with the Fresh Start Expo, the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Panel, Casa Maria Soup Kitchen, and the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
Kendrick Wilson’s career has been defined by scholarship, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to justice and service—making him an exemplary inductee into the Sahuaro Hall of Fame.
