Captain Edward “Alan” Schrader, class of 1988

Alan attended Sahuaro from 1984 – 1988 where he was an outstanding student and athlete. Alan scored a perfect score on his SAT test which helped him on his application for the Naval Academy. He was sponsored by Senator John McCain and excelled at the Naval Academy in baseball and his studies.

Captain Schrader has commanded several nuclear submarines during his time with the Navy, and also has served as a Naval ROTC instructor. He is currently the Commanding Officer of Naval BASE Kitsap in the State of Washington, where he oversees 3600 personnel.

He has personally earned many awards but is most proud of three Battle E awards for excellence for his submarines.

In 2017 Captain Schrader earned the Commander in Chief Award, which “recognizes the outstanding and innovative efforts of the people who operate and maintain U.S. military installations. The five recipients of this highly competitive presidential award were selected for their exemplary support of Department of Defense missions.”

Alan currently resides in the State of Washington with his wife and two sons.
