THE VILAS FAMILY $5,000 TRACK AND FIELD OR CROSS-COUNTRY SCHOLARSHIP

In honor of our mother and father who supported our running, the Cougar Foundation is proud to announce an annual scholarship in their name. The Vilas Scholarship will be a one-time, non-renewable amount of $5,000.  

The Vilas family scholarship will provide the $5,000 scholarship to a deserving Sahuaro senior applicant who meets the following criteria for consideration: 

• · High school senior who will enroll at a U.S. accredited two-year or four-year college, university or institution of higher learning full time during the upcoming school year. 
• · High school senior who will have lettered in either cross-country or track and field while at Sahuaro High School. 
• · Involved in their community. 
• · Maintained a 3.00 GPA. 

One non-renewable $5,000 scholarship will be awarded each year, and the funds will be applied to the student’s account at the accredited college or university in the United States that the recipient will be attending. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• 1. Two letters of recommendation.  One from a coach and a second from an adult who has known the athlete for a number of years. 
• 2. A minimum of a 500 word essay on how competing in track and cross country has enhanced my life. 
• 3. Provide a school approved transcript to be viewed by the selection committee.
